Secretary-General

Sophia Mills

Sophia Mills is a senior at Harvard College studying Government and Economics and serves as Secretary-General of Harvard Model United Nations Brazil 2027. Born in Florida, USA, to a Caribbean family from Trinidad and Tobago and Dominica, she has been involved with Model United Nations throughout her time at Harvard, from competing as a delegate to serving on conference Secretariats.

Her connection to Brazil began through the Portuguese language and grew deeply after her first study abroad experience in São Paulo. Since then, Sophia has returned to Brazil every summer, traveling across the country, from Rio de Janeiro to Minas Gerais, and learning more about its history, culture, traditions, and people.

As Secretary-General, Sophia is honored to help bring the HMUN experience to Brazil as a permanent home for the first time. She hopes HMUN Brazil will become a space of academic challenge, cultural exchange, and meaningful connection, where delegates of all backgrounds feel welcomed, supported, and inspired to grow.

Director-General

Rahul Yates

Rahul Yates is a senior in Quincy House, originally from Los Angeles, California, studying Government, Economics, and South Asian Studies. Rahul joined the Model UN community during his freshman year of college and has truly enjoyed organizing Harvard’s MUN conferences. He previously served as Director-General of HMUN India 2026, USG of Host Affairs for HMUN India 2025, and USG of Business at HMUN Boston 2026 and HMUN Dubai 2027.

Rahul is honored to have helped make HMUN Brazil a possibility, and he is so excited to serve as the Director-General for the inaugural conference. He looks forward to making this conference a success and ensuring its longevity and impact on Brazilian delegates and the HMUN brand.

Outside of MUN, Rahul is involved in the South Asian community and loves watching Bollywood movies in his free time.

Under-Secretary-General for Administration

Maria Clara Souza Rocha

Maria Clara is an incoming sophomore at Harvard College studying Government and Economics. Born and raised in Fortaleza, Brazil, she is passionate about spending time outdoors, especially at the beach, connecting with nature, and traveling around the world.

Maria Clara began her Model United Nations journey in 9th grade through her school’s MUN club and has been involved ever since.

As an experienced delegate at HMUN and its various international editions, she could not be more excited to help bring the HMUN experience to her home country.

Under-Secretary-General of Committees

Becca Faber

Becca is a junior in Quincy House studying Government and Japanese, originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Becca started participating in Model UN during her freshman year, when she began competing on Harvard’s intercollegiate team. Since then, she has become deeply involved with MUN both on and off campus, directing at HMUN Boston, Canada, and India. She currently serves as the USG of Regional and Specialized Bodies for HMUN.

She is so excited to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of Committees for HMUN Brazil and is looking forward to meeting delegates and seeing them grow and collaborate throughout the weekend.

Under-Secretary-General for Operations

Yavuz Atlamaz

Yavuz Atlamaz is a sophomore at Harvard College pursuing a joint concentration in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and Philosophy, with a secondary in Government. Originally from Indiana, he first became involved in Model United Nations five years ago and is thrilled to serve as a Director for HMUN Brazil 2027.

Yavuz is a member of the Harvard Intercollegiate Model United Nations travel team, where he enjoys competing in crisis committees and exploring the intersection of diplomacy, history, and political thought. Beyond Model UN, he is involved with the Harvard Undergraduate Foreign Policy Initiative and the MENA branch of the Global Affairs Program, and writes for the Harvard International Review.
