HMUN Brazil is committed to serving the future leaders of Latin America and the world by tackling some of the most pressing issues on the international agenda. Our delegates come from a wide range of backgrounds, schools, cities, and interests, and we encourage every student who wants this experience to apply.
Please note that, given the competitive nature of HMUN Brazil applications, acceptance to the conference is not guaranteed. We strongly discourage schools from making travel arrangements before receiving formal confirmation of acceptance. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Results are typically released within 3 to 4 weeks of submission.

Two ways to apply
Delegation application
For schools, educational institutions, MUN clubs, nonprofit organizations, and approved private groups.
Individual Delegate application
Available subject to eligibility and supervision rules for students without a school delegation.
Meeting eligibility does not guarantee acceptance. Applications may be approved, denied, waitlisted, conditionally accepted, or limited based on capacity and conference needs.

Individual Delegates under 18
An Individual Delegate under 18 on March 19, 2027 must be associated with a registered and approved Faculty Advisor or authorized adult chaperone, and the Faculty Advisor Fee applies. Individual Delegates never pay the Delegation Fee.
- Individual Delegates pay only the Delegate Fee and, if required, the Faculty Advisor Fee. They do not pay the Delegation Fee.
- Registration closes February 21, 2027 at 11:59 PM BRT, subject to capacity.
- The Delegation Registration Fee must be paid within 15 calendar days after formal acceptance. If it is not, the acceptance lapses, the delegation forfeits its place, and the seats are released to the next applicants in line.
- Committee and country assignments are released only after 100% of the fees due for that participant are paid and cleared. Delegates who pay late start studying late, with less time to prepare their country, their committee, and their position paper.
- Delegate Fees, Faculty Advisor Fees, Anti-Attrition Fees, and any remaining balance must be paid in full no later than February 28, 2027. Waiting until the deadline means a higher fee tier, a later assignment, and less preparation time; there is no advantage in postponing payment.
- A payment-processing charge of up to 3% may be added.
- Conference fees include official academic programming, conference materials, eligible certificates, and at least one official full-conference social event. Accommodation, meals, travel, parking, and transfers are not included unless an official written offer states otherwise.
Eligibility
This total includes delegates, Faculty Advisors, delegation heads, and approved adult chaperones. The supervision ratio of 1 adult for every 20 minor delegates still applies inside the 45-person cap.
- Delegates must be at least 13 years old on March 19, 2027.
- Delegates must be enrolled in high school, secondary school, or equivalent during the conference academic year, or have graduated in the immediately preceding academic year and be participating during no more than the first academic year after graduation (“First Gap Year”).
- Full-time college, university, or post-secondary degree students are not eligible as Delegates.
- The Organizers may request proof of age, enrollment, graduation date, gap-year status, identity, or institutional affiliation.
- Faculty Advisors and authorized chaperones must be at least 18 years old and duly authorized.
- Each Delegation must maintain at least 1 registered and approved Faculty Advisor or authorized adult chaperone for every 20 minor Delegates, or fraction thereof.
- An Individual Delegate under 18 must be associated with and supervised by a registered and approved Faculty Advisor or adult chaperone. An eligible Individual Delegate aged 18 or older may attend without a Faculty Advisor, subject to all other requirements.
A Faculty Advisor does not have to be a teacher
Any responsible adult who is at least 18 years old and duly authorized by the delegate's family or school may serve as a Faculty Advisor, including a parent, an older sibling, an aunt or uncle, a legal guardian, or another trusted adult. School delegations usually bring a teacher or staff member; individual delegates under 18 are most often accompanied by a parent or relative. What matters is that the adult is registered, approved by the Secretariat, and present to supervise the minor delegate throughout the conference.
Where you stay is part of the experience
HMUN Brazil is designed as a residential conference, and staying at the Official Hotel is what makes the full experience possible. Delegates who sleep where they debate get the whole thing: dinners with the friends they made in committee, conversations that continue long after the session ends, the Cultural Showcase, the Delegate Dance, breakfast with a delegation they met the day before. They also lose no time to São Paulo traffic and stay inside a supervised venue from arrival to departure, which is why Faculty Advisors and families consistently prefer it.
Residential Participation is what we recommend to every delegation. To qualify, the booking must cover at least the nights of March 19 and March 20 and must be made through the official HMUN Brazil booking channel, so that it is credited to the conference room block. Booking the Novotel on your own, including directly with the hotel, through a generic Accor rate, points, an online travel agency, or any other third-party channel, does not qualify, and the USD 75 Non-Residential Fee still applies per participant.

- A one-night stay does not qualify; the full fee applies.
- The fee is charged once per participant for the conference, not per missed night.
- It is not a penalty. It is an alternative conference fee allocation associated with non-residential attendance and room-block economics.
- There is no discretionary exemption based on living in São Paulo, proximity to the venue, staying with friends or relatives, using another hotel, points, school preference, transportation choice, financial circumstances, or group size.

Who can apply to HMUN Brazil 2027?
Any student aged 13 or older as of March 19, 2027 — from lower secondary school (Ensino Fundamental II) through upper secondary school (Ensino Médio) — enrolled during the 2026 to 2027 academic year, or a student who has recently graduated in the immediately preceding academic year and is currently in up to one year of gap year. In other words, students who graduate from upper secondary school (Ensino Médio) in 2026 remain eligible to participate as delegates at HMUN Brazil 2027. Students from Brazil or abroad are welcome. Schools apply as delegations with a Faculty Advisor; students without a school delegation apply individually and are placed by the Secretariat.
Do we need previous Model UN experience?
No. Committees are staffed by trained directors, every delegate receives preparation materials, and a delegate training session opens the conference. Experienced delegates find plenty of challenge; first timers are supported from day one.
How large can a delegation be?
Up to 45 people, including delegates and Faculty Advisors. Larger schools may request an exception in writing, and the Secretariat reviews those requests case by case against remaining capacity.
What is the difference between Residential and Non Residential?
Residential participants stay at Novotel São Paulo Center Norte, where committees, meals, and ceremonies happen under one roof. Non Residential participants attend every academic session but sleep off site and pay an additional Non Residential Fee of USD 75 per person.
Why does the Non Residential Fee exist?
Our negotiations with the hotel depend on how many participants are expected to stay in the bedrooms. The fee offsets the difference when a participant does not stay on site and keeps the registration fee lower for everyone. It is not a penalty, it is how a residential conference stays financially sustainable.
Is the hotel really worth it?
The residential experience is where the conference happens between sessions: dinners with the friends you just met in committee, conversations that carry on after the gavel falls, the cultural showcase, and the friendships that outlast the weekend. Delegations that stay on site consistently report a stronger experience, and Faculty Advisors get supervision in one secure building.
What does the registration fee include?
Access to all committee sessions, conference materials, opening and closing ceremonies, the cultural programme, awards, and staff support throughout the weekend. Accommodation and travel are booked separately.
What is the difference between the Delegation Fee and the Faculty Advisor Fee for an Individual Delegate?
The Delegation Fee is charged once per delegation and covers the institutional registration of a school, club, or approved group. Individual Delegates do not register a delegation, so they never pay it. What an Individual Delegate pays is the Delegate Fee and, when a Faculty Advisor or authorized adult chaperone is required or requested, the Faculty Advisor Fee for that adult. Since an Individual Delegate under 18 on March 19, 2027 must be supervised by a registered and approved Faculty Advisor or adult chaperone, that adult's Faculty Advisor Fee applies to them.
When do we have to pay?
As early as you can. The fee tier depends on the date the payment clears, not on the date you applied, so every week of delay can cost more. The Delegation Fee must be paid within 15 calendar days of formal acceptance, otherwise the acceptance lapses and the delegation forfeits its place. Committee and country assignments are only released after 100% of the fees are paid, so delegates who pay late receive their country and committee late and lose preparation time their peers already have.
What is the final deadline?
Applications close on February 21, 2027, or earlier if capacity is reached. Because the conference is capped by the venue, waiting until February carries real risk of no availability.
Can we change our delegation size after applying?
Yes, within reason and subject to availability. Contact the Secretariat as soon as your numbers change; reductions may be affected by the cancellation rules in the Terms and Conditions.
Is financial aid available?
We do not offer financial aid at this time. If this changes in the future, we will inform applicants through our official channels. Applying during the Priority window is the most affordable way to participate.
Who can serve as a Faculty Advisor?
A Faculty Advisor does not need to be a teacher. Any responsible adult who is at least 18 years old and duly authorized by the delegate's family or school may serve as one, including a parent, an older sibling, an aunt or uncle, a guardian, or another trusted adult. For school delegations the advisor is usually a teacher or staff member; for individual delegates under 18 it is very often a parent or relative. What matters is that the adult is registered, approved by the Secretariat, and present to supervise the minor delegate during the conference.
What language is the conference in?
We have committees in both English and Portuguese, and all official communication is published in both languages.
