The conference hotel model
HMUN Brazil is a residential conference. That means the hotel is not simply where delegates sleep: it is where the conference happens. Committees, ceremonies, meals, delegate programming, and the social calendar all take place inside the same building, so the experience never breaks apart across the city.
This model exists for three reasons. It keeps delegates safe, because minors move between committee rooms and bedrooms without ever leaving a supervised venue. It protects the academic day, because nobody loses two hours a day to São Paulo traffic. And it builds the community that people remember years later: the friendships formed in committee, dinner plans with delegations you just met, and conversations that turn a weekend into something lasting.
What qualifies as Residential Participation
Residential Participation qualifies with at least two consecutive nights at the Official Hotel, March 19 and March 20. HMUN Brazil strongly recommends three nights, March 18, 19, and 20, so delegates arrive before Friday's early registration and begin the conference without depending on same-day check-in.
Booking through the official channel matters.
Residential Participation requires at least two consecutive nights at Novotel São Paulo Center Norte, March 19 and March 20, booked through the official HMUN Brazil booking channel and credited to the conference bedroom block. A reservation made directly with the hotel, through a generic Accor rate, an online travel agency, points, another website, or any channel outside the official HMUN Brazil bedroom block does not qualify. In that case, the USD 75 Non-Residential / Anti-Attrition Fee still applies per participant.
